Gopal Srinivasan, Chairman & Managing Director

Gopal is the founder and a Chairman of TVS-Electronics, Director of Sundaram-Clayton Ltd, and several other TVS Group businesses. Gopal has incubated over eight businesses, and has over twenty five years of operational experience in India, along with a wide network of relationships across the world. Gopal has been serving as the Board member of several Indian companies further, he was the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Tamil Nadu State Council for the fiscal year 2007-08. He chaired the "India@75" Mission (www.indiaat75.in) during 2008-09 and is currently chairing CII National Committee for Private Equity &Venture Capital. He is also the Chairman for India-Taiwan task force at CII National Council. He has served as the President of Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology (MAIT) for the fiscal year ‘95-96. Gopal earned a B.Com from Loyola College, Chennai and an MBA from University of Michigan, USA.

Over the course of his career, Gopal has founded several companies operating in diverse sectors including computer peripherals, technology, financial services, and auto components. Many of these businesses started by Gopal are operational today, and a professional management team is in place to run these businesses. TVS Electronics, a company he established in 1986 has revenue of about Rs.191 crores in 2008-09. The company provides transaction automation products and has market leadership position in the dot-matrix printer segment. Another business that Gopal started, Harita Seating, is in the business of manufacturing and supplying vehicle seats and has sales of Rs.198 crores in 2008-09. Other companies that Gopal has founded and are currently operational include TVS Finance & Services, Harita Plastics, TVS-E Technology, TVS-E Servicetec and Harita Techserv. In addition, Gopal has successfully exited several businesses including TVS Whirlpool, TVS Contract Manufacturing, Harita Networks

D.Sundaram, Vice Chairman & Managing Director

D.Sundaram’s experience spans corporate finance, business performance, operations, governance, mergers & acquisitions, talent/people management and strategy. Sundaram served in Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) as Corporate Accountant, Commercial Manager and Treasurer till 1990. He was seconded to Unilever, London as Commercial Officer for Africa and Middle East Group between 1990 and 1993. He has served in various roles, including TOMCO integration, Head of Africa & Middle East among others. In May 1999 he was promoted as Finance & IT Director of HUL. Sundaram was elevated as Vice Chairman of HUL in April 2008. In all, Sundaram has more than 34 years of experience with Hindustan Unilever Limited. He is a two-time winner of the prestigious “CFO of the Year for FMCG Sector” award by CNBC TV18 (2006 and 2009). Sundaram brings deep financial expertise and significant understanding of consumer related businesses. This combination makes him a unique professional to help build TVS Capital Funds into a successful and durable institution. Sundaram’s expertise will guide the next-generation of entrepreneurs across India to build world class companies. Sundaram is a Post Graduate in Management Studies (MMS), Chennai, Fellow of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants, and has attended the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Programme. Sundaram is also an independent director on the Board of State Bank of India, and member of the board of governors of Institute of Financial Management and Research, Chennai.

Manish Makharia, Executive Director

Manish has over 15 years of Investment Banking and Corporate Advisory experience in India. He has advised corporates from across sectors including consumers, infrastructure, media, financial services, natural resources, metals, education etc. Apart from having wide relationships and deep sector knowledge he also has valuable experience of working across investment banking products including Private Equity advisory, Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets, structuring, financial engineering and valuations. Manish was instrumental in setting up Mid Market investment banking practice at Kotak Mahindra Group and as head of the practice led many transactions. He brings deep expertise in proactive deal sourcing, structuring, valuation and negotiations. One of the critical skill sets which he adds to the team is strategizing exits with a view to maximize value since he has extensive experience on IPOs and strategic sale

He is a Chartered Accountant by qualification and was an All India rank holder from November 1995 batch. Before TVS Capital Manish has worked with SBI Capital Markets, Ernst & Young- Corporate Finance and with Kotak Investment Banking

G.Ravishankar, Executive Director & CFO

Ravishankar, with more than 20 years of experience, was till most recently the CFO and then the MD and CEO of Geometric Limited, an Engineering Services company. At Geometric, he played a crucial role in turning around the company. Prior to joining Geometric, Mr. Ravishankar has held various positions in General Electric India (GE) for about 14 years, where his last position was as the CFO of GE Healthcare, South Asia. He was with GE's Financial businesses earlier, where he culminated his tenure as the Vice President and Head Of Risk for their Consumer Finance wing.

Mr. Ravishankar is a Chartered and Cost Accountant with bachelors degree in Chemistry. He is a graduate of the prestigious ‘Experienced Financial Leadership Program’ by GE and has done an executive educational program on ‘Corporate Financial Strategies for Creating Share Holder Value’ from Kellogg School of Management.

Venkat Kailasam, Financial Advisor

Venkat has over 18 years of experience in audit and banking areas. Venkat joined Ernst & Young (EY), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in the year 1996, where he handled audits of local and multinational companies such as General Electric, Metito Group and Saudi American Bank (an affiliate of Citibank N.A), and Gulf International Bank, Riyadh. Venkat then joined Saudi American Bank (an affiliate of ex-Citibank N.A) in the year 2002. From 2002 until Oct 2008, Venkat handled various assignments such as investment compliance and the implementation of Basel II operational risk for the consumer bank businesses, preparation of the bank’s financial statements, Treasury Business Support Manager role where he handled the accounting and reporting of hedges, employee option plans, transfer pricing, capital adequacy ratio calculation and was instrumental in the implementation of BASEL II and IFRS 2 / IFRS 7 accounting standards. In 2008, Venkat became the CFO of Samba Capital, a subsidiary of Samba Financial Group, which provides asset management, brokerage and investing banking services. Venkat is an Associate member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India since June 1994.

Manish Gupta, Associate Vice President

Manish has joined TVS Capital after spending almost two and half years as manager in Irevna (A division of CRISIL Ltd.). He brings with him experience in industry research, valuation, modeling and competitive landscape analysis. Prior to joining Irevna he was with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited for almost two years in the commercial function. He has also worked as apprentice in Deloitte, India for three years. He is a Chartered Accountant, a Company Secretary and has also passed level 3 of CFA, USA. Manish has All-India merit ranks in the CA Intermediate and Final exams and also in the CS Foundation and Final Exams.

Gulshan Khatri, Head – Investor Relations

Gulshan has more than 8+ years of experience with his last assignment with IDFC Mutual Fund as a Vice President. His previous assignments include a stint with ABN AMRO BANK, Preferred Banking, Chennai. Gulshan has worked across HNI & Retail Markets across Tamil Nadu & Karnataka.
Gulshan is a PGDBA from Symbiosis, Pune.

T.N.Madan, Head – Research

Madan has joined TVS Capital after spending almost four and half years In Irevna (A division of CRISIL Ltd.) where he held the positions of Manager and Senior Manager. He brings with him experience in Buy-side research and valuation of Asian mid cap companies, Sector analysis both from equity and credit perspective and conducting workshops in corporate finance and valuation. Prior to joining Irevna he was with Morgan Stanley Capital international for one year and was primarily responsible for maintaining MSCI US Small cap indices. He has also worked as an executive in Ernst & Young’s assurance practice for one year. He is a Chartered Accountant and has All-India merit ranks in the CA Final exam and CWA Inter exam.

R.V.Raman, IT Officer

Raman comes with over three years of market research experience and over 4 years experience in business planning / analysis with TVS Electronics. Raman has strong software implementation experience including Sharepoint Portal and Sugar CRM. Raman earned a B.Sc in Mathematics from The University of Madras and MCA from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). He has completed Higher Diploma in Software Engineering from APTECH.

Akshay Chuttar, Analyst

Akshay has worked for about 18 months with a boutique investment banking and financial consulting firm in Mumbai. He has gained experience in understanding different business models and valuation techniques. He has a keen eye for detailing and evaluating new business opportunities.
Akshay has completed his MBA-Tech degree from NMIMS University, Mumbai. Akshay has also been the president of Social Responsibility Forum at NMIMS University. He has cleared CFA (USA) Level 1 and undergone specialized Venture Capital Development Program at ISB, Hyderabad.

G.Ramprashanth, Analyst

Ramprashanth has worked for about a year and a half with Irevna, a division of CRISIL, as Research Analyst in Chennai. He covered Technology and Semiconductors sectors and worked on a proprietary financial model and has gained experience in valuation of companies, understanding business models of companies in the sectors under his coverage. Ramprashanth has completed his Chartered Accountancy in May 2010.
